How many times have you said, "I'm not going to eat this, drink that, or start a program"? This bandwagon unfortunately is a regular occurrence in our country. Our society is motivated by quick fixes, these fixes are all to often dangerous. The minute you say "I'm NOT going eat or drink this anymore is the moment you will fail. Take the Adkins diet, remember this obnoxious phase. Not only did all your breathes STINK, but how many were backed up?! Many went on that craze eating loads of burgers and bacon but neglected, as always the main ingredient, working out!
How many of you contemplate "cleansings"? This is also big in the press. Look at all those celebrities doing it, if they can look like that so can I. Quick fix!
Pills. potions, lotions, gadgets that "say" you can lose 16 inches and 40 pounds in 7 minutes. NOT! I am all for technology growth, unfortunately it has made our society lazy, weak and having to rely on medications for aliments that most would be free of if they just got movin'.
As a Fitness & Wellness coach with education and science backing me, this is my professional opinion. Instead of saying I need to loose X amount of weight and inches or fit into a certain size, start looking closer at your environment and the changes you can make to help de-stress and de-clutter. These two are the biggest culprits in weight gain. It has taken many years to get where you are right now, it's going to take TIME and patience to get a healthier you.
STRESS, changes your life by altering your thoughts, your body goes into panic mode, stores whatever you are eating into fat. CORTISOL, suppresses your immune cells ability to activate their telomerase, this makes you more susceptible to illness. Higher levels lead to restless sleep, no sleep, no recovery time. Cortisol inhibits function of insulin. When glucose is not being used it's then stored as fat. The more stress you're under the more your body will crave simple carbs, carbs that will be stored as FAT!
Exchange instead of "take out" from your daily world. Day by day make exchanges for better, quality foods and drinks. Decide where you spend most of your time and start arranging so you can relax, meditate, and breathe. Look within your circle of friends, are they a positive influence? Do they spend more time in the drama department? Are they supportive of you and your goals without jealousy? Do they have your back? If they are constantly telling you what you CAN'T accomplish, it's time to remove them from your circle.
Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results.-Anon.
